lupins attacked by slugs

Hi all

I bought some lupins this year and sadly all of them were eaten by slugs! (slugs seem to have been a huge problem this summer) no flower spikes just ravaged leaves and stems. only one flowered.   I know they will come back next year, but what can i do to the plant to prepare it for next year?

I'm afraid slugs and snails love Lupins. I'd give it a quick tomato feed now and then next Spring when the soil is about 5c, apply Nematodes for slugs which you can read about here - http://www.slugoff.co.uk/killing-slugs/nematodes

I also found sheep wool pellets detracted them to some extent.

Slugs and snails survived the mild wet winter we've had and were seriously bad in Spring this year, I had the same issue but managed to get a few spires then the Lupin aphids took over image

I don't think there is a lot of point giving them tomato feed, at this time of year, they are not going to flower now.

    There are ashtrays of emulsion,

Depends how damaged they are. I was praying to the gods for a second flush for late Summer, we've had the weather for it here that's for sure.
