Hi
For the first time I'm intending on entering the "Dahlia Cup" at a local horticultural show in Sept here in Surrey...using dahlias cut from my garden like below...I'm not expecting to win or anything...just for a bit of fun and gain some experience....has anyone done something similar or have any advice?
How long before the show should I cut the flowers? Should I choose blooms which are looking their best, or look like they're just about to come into bloom?
Never done this before so any advice appreciated! Many thanks! WP

I know that you can have a perfect bloom but get no points if you contravene the rules.
