Vine weevil
I have some evidence of vine weevil in my garden, but have not lost any plants as yet. I think the clay soil helps.
I subscribe pretty much to the go with what you've got school of gardening so I was wondering what plants I should avoid and whether there are any types of plant that the grubs find particularly toothsome.
In London. Keen but lazy.

Sedums, Geums, Heuchera,Heucherellas. Tiarella, Fuchsia. Primula. Having said that ,they usually do more damage to plants in pots rather than out in the garden.
I have 4 Jasmine in very large pots, and 2 of them are very sickly indeed, to the point I'm going to pull them up and start again, I noticed 3 weevils on those 2 pots the other week, so I treated all my pots with Nemasys Vine Weevil Killer, think I caught them to late and the damage has now been done.

If they're partial to geums, Berghill, maybe they'll do for my wood avens.
You might be able to salvage some,Sheps. If the plants were quite large, you may find some stems with lumpy, warty brown bits. ( Hope I'm not being too technical here) This is where the root comes if they're spreading about in open soil. Stick that bit in some compost and Bob might possibly be your uncle
I have some astilbes that need dividing. They're definitely going in. I hope the b+++++s will confine themselves to the patio . I've cleared a fairly large bed nearby and I don't want to waste my efforts planting a vw larder.
Just finished watering the garden and thought I'd check my other 2 Jasmine, I found 5 Weevils, some on the pots and some on the leaves
think I need to catch one for a proper ID.

Lantana I love a cryptic crossword. I'm a bit deaf and I always find that what I have misheard is much more interesting than what was actually said.
My main problem with your post is when I type lantana I get Santana and then I get a black magic woman earworm.
At least it's shifted # she moves through the fair#

Went out a bit earlier and caught one of my Weevils, it has a long, curved snout, so this one is not Vine Weevil but another species.
Any ideas?

What was it doing when you apprehended it? Maybe it's an innocent by-crawler
the adults do have a long snout , horrible things
