Conifer hedge turning brown

mel28mel28 Posts: 1

Hi everyone,

I am VERY new to gardening, so any advice would be hugely appreciated image

We have a hedge at the back of our house, which I believe is a conifer (pics attached)?

It's gradually started going brown and the other plants around it, including the vine that grows behind it, have also now started dying off.

I started cutting out the dead bits of the hedge thinking it might help it recover, but realised there might not be a great deal of it left on one side if I continued...

I'm unsure what to do next and whether it's even recoverable?

Any advice would be a huge help!

Thanks,

Mel

Hi Mel. It looks very much like a Leylandii hedge to me and these will not grow back if the old wood is cut into. If it were me I'd dig out the whole lot. There are far more choices for hedging than that notorious conifer. But thats just me and you will make your own choice. The brown will always be there and will not regrow.
