Its called Monstera deliciosa or the Swiss Cheese Plant - for obvious reasons! They start off with immature heart shaped leaves and then go on to develop the characteristic splits and holes. It is a climbing plant and in its own environment can grow to 5m using any handy tree to scramble up. I think it would benefit from going into a bigger pot. It can go outside in the Summer but needs to come inside in the Autumn/Winter. If you can provide a stout stake for it to climb up too it will be very happy.

Make sure it doesn't use the walls for support. We had one that went feral and it ruined the paintwork with its aerial roots.
