Artemisia

Anyone know if artemisia vulgaris variegated can be cut back and when is the best time to this.

Also when is the best time to lift and divide crocsosimia

Martin, I answered your last post when you asked about Artemisia. In case you missed it Autumn is the time to cut Artemisia down to the ground and this can be done every year. Crocosmia divide quite readily without any assistance. I have been trying to get rid of them from my garden for 30 years. You could just dig up some corms and replant where you want them but on your own head be it! image

Interesting Ladybird, I always thought that late spring was the time to cut them back.

How can you lie there and think of England

You can leave it 'til then but Autumn is the optimum time.

Artemisia vulgaris is a common roadside weed, the variegated form is likely to seed back to green so don't let it seed.  It's an herbaceous perennial so will die back for winter and probably doesn't matter when it gets cut back apart from the seeding issue.
