Depends where you live,broad leaved ones are more tender than slim leaved ones, they do not like cold wet winters in clay soil even with loads of sand added, so I grow mine in tubs!
Once they get established they do expand quickly for me and I soon get multiple flower heads, though they are the devil to get out off the tubs to divide, I just chop them through with a sharp spade and tub them up again!
Blooms GC have lots in tubs with multiple flower heads at the moment, ONLY £89.99 per tub and they are not even very pretty flowers at that!

I understood they flower best when the plants are very crowded together as In a pot. Mine are usually very vigorous with lots of flowers.
