Cherry Tree in dire need...
Hello everyone, I am hoping that there is someone out there who can save my tree!
This cherry tree was the first tree I ever climbed, and the same goes for my brothers and cousins. First it was my grandparents' place, and now, them having passed, it is my Mum and Dad's, so you can imagine the emotional attachment. It has become rather sad over the years, and when a tree surgeon came out to trim some of the others, he just said it needs cutting down.
Now I absolutely cannot bear to do that. It would be like losing a family member, or losing part of my grandparents all over again.
If anyone can advise me on possible routes to save this lovely old thing I would be eternally grateful. Failing that, is it possible to take a cutting?
It has leaves, but they are wilted and a bit.bedraggled. Parts of it are dead and it has woodlice in some parts of it.

Woodlice only feed on dead wood so that's not a good sign. If there's a way of saving any of it, someone on here will know.
Cherry trees do have a life span of 30-40 years so it may be bad news but here's hoping.
Thanks PP!
Sounds like Canker thats killing it as well. Perhaps dress it up. Make a feature of it by putting a climber two running through it
