At the end of last summer we were gicen a clump of Inula Hookeri...we put it in a large tub and a few days ago it was doing extremely well...unfortunately the lower leaves are turning yellow...why is this please and what can we do about it ? There are lots of buds about to bloom...please advise us if you know the answer...Laurence

Hi Laurence, it may simply be that they're old leaves dying back. It's quite common in lots of plants as they grow.
If you haven't replaced or refreshed any of the soil/compost it's in, it could also be short of nutrients. Not sure they're suited to containers really, unless it's a nice big one. They make quite big clumps, so you might be better finding a space in the ground for it if you can

Thank you fairygirl...I think I will find a nice spot in the garden for it...flowers are beginning to come out...when would be the best time to move it please ? Aurence
As it's in a pot, you can plant it anytime Laurence. The only times it's not a good idea is when ground's frozen or waterlogged. Hopefully you don't have either of those!
