Thanks so much for all the replies, seems to have caused a split in opinions. I have had a good look at all the plants suggested. From the images I have seen my plants look most simular to the Coreopsis and the Heliopsis Helianthoides. The variegated plant has curious rosettes of leaves forming on the top of each stem that look quite flower like that the picture does not show. Glad to know what these are at last, hard to tell sometimes unless they flower, my previous searches for the leaves came up blank. Thanks again for everyones help.
Here are the rosettes. Hard to get these as they were blowing in the wind, I will have to support them before they flop over. Bigger pot needed too.
Excuse the gritty look to the stems and leaves. Next doors builders thought it was a good idea to angle grind out the pointing of the wall above my yard without telling me or protecting anything. I am still clearing up debris a week later, every time the wind blows another cloud of sandy dust appears all over my container garden.

Top two are Gazanias as Kitty identified and the bottom one looks like the dead nettle Lamiastrum galeobdolon
Thanks Lady B, I've not mastered the link's yet
I thought the first two were coreopsis.
I also think the first two are Coreopsis.
The bottom one looks like Heliopsis helianthoides ‘Summer Green’.

how about a photo of the variegated plant showing the rosettes of leaves. This could be an important clue to ID.
In the sticks near Peterborough
Sorry nutcutlet I missed this post until now, I am off to water my pots so I will grab a pic while I'm out there.
