pruning a rock rose

Hi very novice gardener tend to plant it and keep my fingers crossed. Would like some advice on how to prune a rock rose and a cordyline both getting over grown. Do I cut rock rose back to woody growth ? Thank You

Do you mean Rock rose, Helianthemum, or Rock rose Cistus? 2 totally different plants with the same common name.
