Nettle feed

goddygoddy Posts: 35

Hi there everyone,  I have nettles growing in a pot for use as a garden nitrogen feed but I havn't a clue how often to use it. I know too much will result in too much leaf and no flower. Can any one advise please?

Hi goddy, I'm not sure how big your pot is but you need quite a lot of nettles to make a brew. I use nettle tea to encourage leaf, if you want to feed fruit and flowers you might want to think about Comfrey?

There are lots of really good articles on the Internet including this one

and I use both nettle and comfrey about once a week during the growing/flowering season. I dilute it to 1 part in 10 but I am no expert I promise you.

Thank you herbaceous,  I also use comfry every week but was unsure how often to use nettles. I only have a small garden so don't need much.

Then I would use nettle the same as comfrey remembering that it is a bit less nutrient rich. Good luck! My experience is just that, trial and error - often as much error as trial I'm sad to say.
