Wisteria White Silk, guidance please

I put in a wisteria white silk a few weeks back and the growth rate has been quite tremendous, but after reading too many articles on pruning and training, I think I am more confused now than before!! Any help on what bits I should be pruning etc. would be gratefully received. It is to train over a pergola.

While it is still small I'm not sure I would bother pruning it.  Better to let it grow a bit and send out some long stems that you can train along the supports and just cut off any stems determined to grow in the wrong direction..

In future years, you cut back in July the log whippy stems that start growing in spring.   Then, in Jan or Feb, depending on frosts, cut back again to a couple of buds so the plant reacts by producing the flowers you want.

Sometimes plants just need to be left to grow.  The art of gardening is to have the patience to wait for that to happen but also to know when to intervene and give support or guidance or referee so that a preferred treasure has the space and light it needs.

Enjoy the process.  The thing is that you will never know it all, no matter how many years you garden.  There's always some new plant or new combination or new technique to learn and so much to enjoy and share along the way.
