Clematis rebecca

Hi folks I have just planted out clematis rebecca I have 4good stems and 3that are dead should I cut the dead stems out and if so how far down should I cut them off.

    anything dead should be cut out of anything. I'd cut them right out

    You might find a few new shoots coming through later anyway Wills, if you've planted it deeply. It encourages that   image

    She's a lovely clematis. I've had this one in a pot for 4yrs now.

    I prune in spring back to a good set of buds, but don't go too low.
    Then after the first flush (now) I'll prune back again to a good set of buds and give a little BFB.

    Wow that's very pretty Pete8.  Do you feed it with anything?  It looks very healthy.

    Thanks Jess - I dress it with a little BFB in spring and again about now. Every few weeks I give it a little tomato feed during the flowering period, but not too much.
    The problem I usually get in mid summer is mildew as the pot frequently dries out while I'm at work in the day
