can anyone tell me the name of this iris please? It grew in my lovely mums garden and i would like to grow some in mine now .ps - is it blue or purple as i am colourblind. Thanks
Hi Tingly. It is as difficult to name an iris as it is to name a rose because so many beautiful cultivars have been bred over the years. According to my laptop screen your iris looks purply blue I think it probably belongs to the regelia group of bearded irises - possibly one of the Hoogiana strains. Any plants that came from my Mum's garden - if I didn't know and couldn't find the name for it - became Bettie's rose or Bettie's fuchsia, named for her. The second anniversary of her passing is next month. I'm not getting morbid here as she will forever live on in my garden

That is a beautiful sky blue with slight purple shading to the falls.
Iris Blue Rhythm perhaps.

I like the "color me blue" as well, but quite a bit lighter blue
