Plants for hanging basket in shade

HollyanneHollyanne Posts: 2

Hi

im looking to place one or two hanging baskets on a wall that I see through my kitchen window. Trouble is its in shade. I want trailing plants and as much colour as I can manage, please has anyone any suggestions?

I can use trailing ivy and fuchsia but would like more variety.

You can use ivy-leaf geraniums. They won't flower as well as in sunshine, but they do flower. If possible, rotate them into a sunny spot for a couple of weeks to give them a boost.

Think about different fuchsias with contrasting or toning flower colours.

Lobelia actually do better in shade than full sun and dichondra silver falls would give you a silvery highlight.

Thankyou both for your suggestions, that gives me more to choose from.

Like obelixx said lobelia are good in shade with a good range of colours. Mimulus - begonia - busy lizzles are good aswell.

I was looking at one of my shade hanging baskets yesterday and thinking, why did I ever think that would look good? I did not think the planting through properly image
