Small pansies / violettas

Please help!

I bought some small pansies I think they are called violettas.

They kept growing after I repotted I now have them on my doorstep in a large pot (approx width 30cm diameter)

The plants have now expanded into this pot, however I have noticed when I water that under the plant it doesn't seem to be rooted - I think new roots are probably there (tendrils) but they arn't in the soil just appear floatng ontop, should I somehow work at getting these rooted, if so how?

Could plant/plants be split into smaller units then repotted, if so how?

Its quite difficult to imagine exactly what you are seeing from your description but I suspect that all you are seeing are the new stems as the plant is growing. Is it possible for you to upload a picture to help us see what you are describing?

I have Violas in pots and planters too they do spread out but they grow outwards from a central root. I plant up about 6 in a 30cm pot and they grow to fill it. Mine are still going strong..
