What is this plant?? Has never flowered.

Hi all,

I have this plant in the garden and I have no idea where I got it from but I wondered if someone could tell me what it is? It grew to around the same size last year but never had any flowers.

When you rub the leaves they smell quite strong but I couldn't tell you what it smells like.imageimage

It looks like mint to me.

Hi  It may be mint but I have something very like this growing in my garden and it looks and behaves like mint in that it spreads underground by long white fleshy stolons/roots but it has a most acrid, unpleasant smell when crushed and I believe it is a native plant. I have that on my destroy list. It has insignificant pinkish flowers if it manages to escape me.

your sounds like Hedge Woundwort, Stachys sylvatica, Ladybird.

I don't think this is either of those 2 plants. What are its roots like?

Everything flowers eventually so keep an aye on oit. If it's not a garden plant the flowers might be tiny

Thank you nutcutlet - you're a star. It is not one of my favourite wild flowers!

Looks like a Monarda. Aromatic leaves stems are square shape, how the new top leaves are shaped look just like my monardas.

I agree with Perki that it looks like a Monarda.

    Thanks for the comments.

So it could be a few things then really but I think what I will do is wait until this season is out and if it doesn't do much of anything I will take it out :)

Has it got to that height in previous years and not flowered? That plant looks as though it will flower later.
