My local park has developed a new wildlife area which is attracting lots of bees, particularly this plant, is it comfrey?

Yes, that is Comfrey. There is a cultivar called Bocking 14 which is not a thug like its relative. It is sterile and can only be propagated by cuttings. It still attracts the bees though and also makes a great fertiliser.

A bit like self-heal. We saw some in the woods along a path and it was a little tiny thing.

I bought some for my garden and it's turned into the incredible hulk.
