Dicentr

My dog yesterday chased after a cat in the garden and in the process broken my new dicentra plant that I only put in this year. Will this grow back next year or is that it?

How broken is it?  Does it still have some leaves?  If so, I think it will be fine.  I think I'd feed it (blood, fish & bone maybe) because it still has time to produce more leaves to feed the crown before autumn.  Even if it has no leaves, I'd still feed it because it might shoot again if you're lucky.  You might need to protect the new growth from slugs.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

It's broken right down to the Base.  Snapped clean off. Thanks for the advise

It should be back next year if not this, hardy perennials are good at that
