Can you identity my mystery plant

This mystery plant has appeared this year. It's is quick growing got no flowers or blossom as yet, it's tree like and unusual leaves, any ideas as to what it is. I don't know whether to let it grow or pull it up.... It's appeared thar fast... Thank you for any help....

    Looks a bit like a bay struggling for light - if you crush one of the older leaves any smell?

    It also look a lot like Salix caprea so if it doesn't have that lovely aromatic smell when you crush a leaf then I think it may be the Salix. In which case you need to get rid of it. They pop up everywhere - often in plant pot compost.

  • No there is no distinct smell to the leaflets kinder like a cross between privit  moved grass and nettle lol, here's a close up leaf...image

    I think Ladybird is right Salix caprea. If not caprea, Salix something else, but willow definitely

    If you don't want it, remove it quickly. It'll turn into a large shrub/ small tree in no time.

  • Thank you for your replies I think sailx is a good contender. Think he will be dug out this weekend if there is a break in the rain....seems like he's going to get big
