Something to worry about?

image

I picked up a dianthus in the sin bin yesterday, started to give it a bit of a 'chop', and noticed this at the base. I think the spheres are the slow release fertiliser, but the 'fuzzy bits' with the white specks? Can anyone tell me if I need to worry about it/treat it?

Thanks!

Yes, I think those are fertilizer pellets - looks to me as if someone's been a bit over generous with them for a pot that size - I'd remove half.

The fuzzy white bits are mould or fungus that is breaking down the old leaves - just remove the dead brown leaves.  It'll be fine.  Don't overwater.

  • Thanks Dove! That was the answer I was hoping for image I was a bit worried I'd end up putting it in the flower bed and spreading something nasty throughout the rest of the plants.

Don't think there's any danger of that image
