id mystery tall plant
Hi
I have this plant that's grown wild both in the back and in the front. I've seen it growing in other people's gardens and wild so it's not uncommon. It is 4 foot or so tall, is quite elegant with pointed leaves and has small purple flowers, not unlike lavender. Would like to know what it is -cheers!

Linaria purpurea aka purple toadflax
A wonderful plant, there is a pale pink version Linaria 'Canon Went' but if you have both any seedlings will be purple.
Yes,people see it as a weed but it is nice
Yey toadflax, we have lots and its lovely.
I have it too and I love it. It seeds where it likes but just pull up the ones in the wrong place or move them.
I grow both colours too and I love it. I've passed it on to quite a few fellow gardeners when they have admired it.
Thanks everyone. I actually moved the one I photographed into the border where it really does a good job of giving height and structure to the border.
