Lupin help!!
Hi,
I need some help with my lupin!!
She is just finishing her main flower stem, I haven't cut stem off as I would like her seeds, looks otherwise happy and healthy but ive noticed that the baby buds have gone brown and crusty.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Michelle

Probably need to dead head that flower so the babies have a chance
Hi gff,
Thank you for your reply. I thought as much, went to go deadhead and looking at the baby flowers they're all already dead
Shame she's a very pretty lupin.

I would deadhead the lupin, then it'll bulk out rather than putting it's strength into producing seeds. Then next spring you can take some basal cuttings - they'll grow true to the parent plant. The plants grown from seeds may not be like the parent plant as they are likely to have been cross-pollinated.
