Disappearing Poppies

On June 1st I sowed some Poppy and Cornflower seeds in to a prepared bed, lightly covered with soil, protected with netting and then watered, After about 5 days the seedlings appeared, we kept the ground moist but suddenly practically overnight the seeds disappeared - what happened, no sight of insects/slugs etc HELP

They have probably been eaten by slugs or snails. They won't hang around after pinching all your seedlings and will now be hunkered down in a dark, damp place.

Thank Ceres, they must be commando slugs/snails to get through netting!! any suggestions? or should we just plant something else?

slugs can live in the soil, all they have to do is burrow up and bye bye seedlings
