Best way to grow grass

Hello all,

I know this is probably an easy question to answer but I'd like some advice on how to grow grass (and get rid of weeds). I have just bought my first house with my partner (I'm now trying to avoid the DIY) and I really enjoy gardening. However, the previous owners had a lot of junk in the garden and there are now numerous huge patches. I want to start working on the garden and feel that getting the grass right is the best place to start as it covers the majority of the garden.

I've read lots of different reviews about products and techniques but was hoping I'd be able to get some sound advice on here to determine which products and indeed techniques are best.

Many thanks

Alex

Hi Alex. The very first thing to do is make sure all the 'rubbish' has been moved from your plot.. Then decide on the size and situation of your lawn. Check that the area is level. Decide whether you want to completely re-turf the area or sow seeds. Either of these two options are best carried out in the Autumn so if you want to treat for weeds you have the opportunity to do it now.
