i see some tiny black insects on the nee shoots of a fruit tree (i dont know what sort of tree it is -- its growing from a seed) as the result all new leaves are curling up as dying
what are these and what to do?
thanks for any advice
THEY ARE BLACKFLY, APHIDS, AND ARE SUCKING THE SAP OF THE TREE.
WHAT YOU DO ABOUT THEM DEPENDS ON HOW YOU REGARD NATURE AND THE ENVIRONMENT. FOR ME, EVERY CREATURE HAS ITS ROLE TO PLAY IN THE BIG PICTURE OF THE ENVIRONMENT. THEY COULD BE SEEN AS PESTS OR THEY COULD BE SEEN AS BIRD FOOD.
I LEAVE APHIDS AND NEVER TOUCH THEM. MY ROSES ARE CURRENTLY COVERED, COMPLETELY COVERED IN APHIDS. I KNOW THAT IN A WEEK OR TWO THERE WON'T BE AN APHID TO BE SEEN BECAUSE ALL THE BABY BIRDS THAT HAVE JUST FLOWN THEIR NESTS WILL HAVE EATEN THEM.
the problem is we don't all have baby birds that flock to our garden, I know I don't. we have lots of Jackdaws and Magpies that usually scare away the smaller birds so essentially I have lots of pests on all my plants.
If you don't want to use chemicals, use a water sprayer filled with dilute washing up liquid/water and spray the plants that are covered in pests.
