propagate and prune lilac
I have a beautiful lilac which provides me with millions of fragrant flowers every May. I haven't pruned it for years because the last time I pruned it it didn't flower for about 2 years. I need to tidy it up a bit now. When is the best time, and what is the best way? Also, how do I propagate it?

Hi Michaela I prune my lilac just after fiowering and prune just enough to tidy the bush.
I would just cut back to just above a leaf/bud.
I propagate like rhodis or magnolias. look for a low lying branch and make a cut under a bud
and stake it to the ground, so it will root..it may take a while.
