Weeping Copper Beech

Hi, any advice on why my lovely copper beech tree has been experiencing very poor leaf growth the last 2 years ? The leaves are much smaller than they used to be (and more sparse) - but still appear to be perfectly formed? This tree used to be beautifully full, now its balding worse than me!!!!!
