What tree is this?

imageMy sister planted her christmas tree 18 yrs ago and now this is the view from the loft window.  

Any chance of an ID from this picture (I can ask her to take a better one during the day and include bark etc).  

Just wondering if it needs tackling before it becomes a giant redwood's cousin! image

    Hi Cloggie. It looks like a Nordman fir. I'm not sure what you mean by 'tackling'?

    Well Clogie 18 years ago the christmas tree market was dominated by two trees Either a Sitka spruce or a Norwegian pine. Without close pictures its difficult to know which is most likely. A rough guide is if you can grasp a branch without it being painful its norway, if it's painful and jaggy it's a sitka.
