Anyone know what this is, is it a juvenile wasp/hoverfly?
Hi Cloggie. Its a hoverfly.
thanks ladybird, they've got long back legs haven't they?
Well I must admit that threw me for a moment and I'm not altogether sure it IS a hoverfly on second viewing. I cannot make out any wings and you can usually see them on hoverflies. Its definitely not a wasp but could be a teeny grasshopper????
Hi Cloggie...it's a Wasp Beetle
Thank you for solving that one for us Sheps
No problem Ladybird...it's a species of Longhorn Beetle that mimics a wasp to deter predators.
Cool. Something else I've never seen before - love my "new" garden!
