What can I walk on?

Can anyone suggest something I could plant between these stepping stones? Don't really want just bare earth.
I've seen creeping thyme, is this my only option? I don't want anything invasive.

Chamomile - the dwarf form. I done the same many yrs ago. It doesn't mind being trodden on a bit and the aroma is lovely
There are chamomile lawns - and books!
