Lewisia advice please

PrivetPrivet Posts: 93

Hi all. I bought a rather lovely Lewisia last year, but I failed to look after it over winter. The result is a thick trunk with a bunch of leaves on the top and lots of what look like baby plants growing in the sides. It looks healthy enough ... nice shiny leaves etc. but it is never going to win any prizes for beauty! Any suggestions would be appreciated. I don't want to chuck it away because it survived. Daft, I know!

Many thanks

Hi Privet. Any chance you could upload a picture please?

    Hi Ladybird

The first picture is what it looks like now, the second what it should look like! I think I should've treated it like a houseplant over winter and brought it indoors. As you can see, though, there appear to be little plantlets growing on the 'trunk' and I just wonder whether they'll grow into new plants.

Plant it on its side, growing out of a wall or something. Lewisias don't like wet in the crown.

Thank you both. I don't have any walls but I'll see what I can do with rocks!
