Clematis

Guernsey Donkey2Guernsey Donkey2 Posts: 6,713

Hi, my plug clematis are pushing their roots through the third pot that I have transplanted them into since receiving the plugs in Feb/March. So now I would like to put one or two of them outside.  Which of these would you recommend to grow up an existing rose which is growing against our house wall - Freckles or Ernest Markham? The wall faces south but does get quite a lot of wind.

I think Freckles would be nice as it has the added bonus of being evergreen.

The instruction sheet that came with the clematis tells me that Freckles flowers between December & February, so that would give colour when there is very little in flower at that time of year (although our daffodils will be starting to flower by Feb). The flowers would look especially nice at that less colourful time of year.
