Plant ID (with picture hopefully this time)

This shrub is deciduous, located in a north facing front garden (and seems to thrive) and is covered in pale lilac/pink small flowers which smell divine. Any idea what it is please?

And it seems that I can't load up pictures on here directly from my phone... grrr.

Hello LavenderLouise. Your plant is a lilac.

  • I am surprised, as it looks totally different (both flower and leaf) to the lilac I've got in the back garden, so I'd assumed that it wasn't. Any idea as to what type, as I'd like to know how to take care of it properly?

  • Actually, I've just done some searching on the RHS website and there are types of lilacs that look a bit similar, so thank you Ladybird4 (I had wondered, due to the perfume, but it looked so totally different that I thought I was wrong!).

Yes LL there are lots of varying cultivars of lilacs these days. I think yours could be Syringa meyeri Palibin.
