Pond
Hello. Im pretty new to ponds. But we have a boggy field next to the garden which does become a pond in wet weather. (We do own the field) i would like to make a pond in the corner next to the garden. However the water is contaminated by what we call ochre water. It is fed by field drains from surrounding areas which obviously contain iron ore. In summer months the "pond" dries up to brown orange sludge. As i said i would like to incorporate this and build some kind of natural pond. My husband says this is a waste of time & can never be fixed. Any advice would be welcome. Are there any plants which would filter the water or is he right and I'm wasting my time. Many thanks

This was me last year.
It's not contamination as such ie not nasty. My pond is fine but it's up slightly from the sheugh and is fed from the springs so constantly changing. Do a bit of reading before you commit and have a look round and see what there is locally.
Thanks ill ask around. Sorry what is sheugh. Cheers
HaHa I suppose it's a ditch!
