Looking for somewhere to purchase Easy Edge

Hi,

We've seen this that we think would be the best way to finish the borders however primrose charge extra to deliver to the Highlands. Can anyone else suggest another site that might offer cheaper delivery that doesn't cost as much as the product itself?

Many thanks.

You might find a local smithy or equivalent who'd be happy to make them for you. It's just a question of cutting plate to size and putting it through that big roller thing they have. Take a picture with you to show him/her. If you lived away over here instead of away over there I could recommend someone. image

Can't you order direct from the manufacturer?

  • Thanks, hmm smithy might be worth looking into. I did find what I think was the manufacturers site later on but they wanted £11 delivery which when it's only for a small amount (small garden) it was more the price of the thing again.

If the item you are purchasing costs less than the delivery price of £11 I can't imagine a local smithy or similar making it for less as a one off.

  • Well I think our thinking was to order one length so 1.3M and see what it was like before ordering more but with the high delivery charges we couldn't do that. With a smithy it would be different... Considering some other options now for lawn edging.

I wanted gates for my property but being a contrary sort I wanted "special" ones. I didn't want the terribly formal up and down with pointy bits on the top. I wanted mine based on the leaded lights in my windows which are in turn based on the organic flowing lines of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Nothing awkward there!

I found a local guy who was bored with straight up and down with pointy bits and so he took my ideas and ran with them. It was easier for him....no measuring, just cutting and sticking. They're an awkward size as well!

I still have the gates, I love them every day and I also made a friend for life. He didn't charge me the earth because he thoroughly enjoyed helping me out.

I too am hit with the Highlands and Islands surcharges and at one point I sent details to a firm in Liverpool outlining that it would be cheaper for me to get on a plane and go pick stuff up than to have them send it.

I feel your pain Highlandness. image
