Possible weeds ... And lilies!
Wow, the forum has changed a bit since I was here last!
Since making last year's new 'wiggles path' border I am tidying up this year's sudden prolific growth of everything to fill bare patches with bedding plants or what ever takes my fancy.
I have come across some plants I don't immediately recognise but don't trust my memory or knowledge to decide whether to leave or pull up.
Here are a few pictures:
Photo 1 ... The plant among the lupine...
Photo 2 ... The one to the right of the chrysanthemum...
Photo3 ... The broad leafed plant at the back...
Photo 4 ... The thick yellow/green leafed plant on the left...
Photo 5 ... The broad leafed plant dominating the left of the picture...
Photo 6 ... The spiky leafed plant in the centre. Its leaves are a bit like the way a lily grows and just out of the picture I do have a lot lilies - could this be connected? Or is it an intruder in disguise? It also looks a bit like Mares Tail which I defini do not want.
And while on the subject of lilies is the growth shown in photo 7 normal?
Photo 7
They were planted as bulbs early last year and did really well but were generally compact - 12 to 18 inches high. This year they are all 24 to 36 inches high? Any ideas? The surrounding foliage is also a bit higher so is everything just trying to compete for light or is it normal for lilies to grow that high?

Sorry - everything has gone upside down.
Please read left as right etc or alternatively stand on your head
Is the growth shown in photo 7 normal? Lillies hanging from the sky....I wish.
Think what fun we'd have!
*turns laptop upside down
no.5 looks like japanese anemone, mine have pale pink flowers, very pretty but pops up everywhere, the one that is clover like is called oxalis, it has smaill pink flowers, i hate it, it gets everywhere in my garden and when you try to did it out it leaves it's tiny bulbs in the soil and starts growing again, i'm constantly trying to dig out the bulbs but some like it.
lillies do seem to get bigger year on year
Hi Birdy. Csmpanulas possibly with lupins and chrysanthemum. Photo 3 looks like a dandelion leaf. Not sure on Photos 4 and 5. I don't think that is mare's tail in Photo 6. Some lily types can grow this tall but I cannot explain the difference in height from last year to this except that they are now settled in.
Sorry - should have read Campanulas!
Is that oxalis Sanjy or is it very tiny aquilegia seedlings? My oxalis (love it) is more of a shamrock shaped leaf. Those are quite divided into three if you know what I mean.
The Japanese anemone I should have recognised. I'm the only person I know who can kill them. My friends keep weeding them out of their gardens for me to murder.
That's a great garden Birdy. Lots of little treasures.
plant pauper i think you are right, i've got both and the aquilegia has crinkly edges but my oxalis are smooth edged and the three leaves are almost heart shaped on my oxalis, i think the tiny pink buds swayed me into thinking oxalis but looking closer that could be something else in there maybe an oxalis
Still not sure. My plan on another thread is to let everything get to 6" tall and then decide whether or not to keep it. It's sounding like a better plan every minute!
plant pauper, it's pretty hard to kill japanese anenomes, but as long as you plant the corm bit (the thick bit) of the root it will come back, i dug a load up last year for my mum and they always flag and look dead but will come back the next year
not sure why i now don't have a 'message' button, can you see it your end?
DOH! why would i be able to see it unless i want to message myself, i'll go and get my dunces hat
