Stops Tenuissima cultivation

KeenOnGreenKeenOnGreen Posts: 1,823

I threw out my mature but tatty Stipa Tenuissima, thinking I could plant some seed and have some new plants for summer.  No sign of any shoots yet and I have just read that they need winter dormancy. Can I expect any plants this year?

If you let it seed last year you'll probably have some in the garden. It's a good self seeder

Indeed, but I have thrown out all of the self seeders as I thought I would fill a couple of pots with fresh seed. Sometimes we don't help ourselves!

Check out yesterday's "weedy garden" thread on the hazards of hoeing!

My new plan is to let everything get to six inches high and then pull out what I don't want. image

plant pauper that's my plan too as last year i was too hasty for my memory as after i suddenly remembered that the 'weeds i pulled out were things i'd forgotten i'd sowed. so apart from poppies i'm leaving everything else until i know for sure image

I think it's an excellent plan. You don't have to bend so far either! image
