Ode to Today
Sitting in my garden, watching flowers grow
I love the pretty colours, as they’re putting on their show.
There’s a red one and a yellow one and a purple and a pink
The orange and the burgundy are dahlias. I think.
I see my kerria is fading, soon I’ll have to prune it back
And I’ve always thought that nightshade, would be better suited black.
My lithadora’s heavenly, the blue is quite sublime
And the salvia is blooming well, the purple so divine.
The roses are not up to speed, but I know that soon they’ll sprout
Cos once the weather changes, their flowers all come out.
The lilies in their pots are coming out to play
and soon their tall majestic stems will perfumed heads display
Oh yes I love my garden, it’s a higgledy mess I know
With runner beans amongst the trees, and mangetout on the go
I wish I could develop an artists detailed eye
Instead of filling every gap with something new to try
But hey I’m having fun with this and that’s the bottom line
So I’ll sit and watch the flowers beneath the branches of my pine.

Hi Mynx. My sentiments entirely. What a lovely way to express it too.
Thank you, I will put some photos on shortly so you can see what a mishmash it is, but at least it's colourful
All that limericking yesterday has clearly inspired you Mynx. Keep up the good work!
Couldn't have put it better myself! In fact I'm so inspired that I might slip out of my workshop sneak outside for a little while, just for a spot of fresh air you understand, just for five minutes or so ........
Lovely poem!
