Iris foliage taking over

Hi guys,

I'm sure this is a silly question but can I cut away some of the foliage from my Irises whilst they are in bloom?

There is so much of it that is flops and covers other flowers trying to find some light.

I've tried tying it up but it doesn't look very natural.
