Cosmos

I have grown Cosmos (mainly purity and some mixed) and they are always really tall at this stage. They were sown in early March and are in the greenhouse but are about 8-10" tall with very few leaves on the stems. The stems are strong but is there any way I can encourage them to bush out more? I have been pinching the tops out, they will be going into the cold frame this weekend (if they fit!).

Thanks Verdun. Yes, 9cm pots and some still in smaller ones. It has been particuarly hot in the last 10 days so I think you're right, I will put them in the cold frame tomorrow.

  • Hi Winn, plant them deeper in a 2/3 litre pot (like a clematis pot), and put them outside (unless a frost).
