Is my Broom dying?

Hi there,  I have a common Broom in a pot which I got last year in the spring when it had lots of flowers. This year however has only one flower and the leaves are dried and withered looking. I'm wondering should I prune it or just leave it be and hope it improves?  I've top dressed it with multipurpose compost and moved it to a more sheltered spot.

Thanks

Sonya

Doesn't sound promising Sonya. I kept one in a pot for a couple of years through necessity, but I was vigilant about watering. Even though they like quite poor, dry conditions, it's important to keep then hydrated when in a confined space.

I'd agree with Verdun that pruning won't help. Is it very rootbound in the pot too?

If you can plant it into the ground it may revive, but it sounds like it's on the way out image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Thanks guys - the stems are still green so I'll try planting it out and keep my fingers crossed!
