Verbena Bonariensis
Under the impression these plants were dodgy germinators, I sowed the whole packet. I think every last seed must have germinated. I should think 90% are going to end up composted, have got about 15 little plants pricked out with absolutely nowhere to put them. Am I crazy??

They breed like verbena bonarensis! I have them everywhere including cracks between paving slabs. apart from the shady spots. Apparently the ones grown from a seed packet are better but I wouldn't know.
I'm gutted that I forgot to buy Verbena Bonariensis seeds this year for the back of our bed. I'll be taking a trip to GC this week!
Some people do find them tricky. I find sowing them at this time of year, as it's warmer, is the best method, although they may not make such big plants. If I sow earlier, it's too cold and unfavourable for them anyway so it's not worth it.
They often overwinter here anyway without any problem as long as they're sheltered and in good gritty soil.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
