Hi there, does anyone know what this is? It's messy, driving me mad, and growing outside the border into the grass too!

It looks like a phormium shrub but not too sure

Phalaris arundinacea, probably the variety 'Picta'.... rather invasive I'm afraid...

  • Well, I've just dug it out - and a load of couch grass from the same border, too. Argh, this border was a real mess! The only good is that I had to enlarge the border to get rid of this where it was growing into the lawn - so more room for something new image

    Agree with Marlorena.

I grow it by my pond, but is very invasive, and needs careful control.

How can you lie there and think of England
