phlomis-russeliana
in Plants
Am looking at ordering one of these but I am slightly confused... Some sites say it is suitable for partial shade others say full sun! RHS says gulls sun but will tolerate shade. Toby buckland is selling it as a shade lover! Does anyone grow this in the shade?

Hi Stacy, the Kew site says the following:
"Turkish sage is a hardy species of Phlomis, which can be grown in any good, well-drained soil, in sun or partial shade. It has a long flowering-period, stretching from late spring to early autumn. It does well in sunny borders in British gardens, and is drought tolerant when established. Propagation can be carried out by division of the clumps."
So it sounds like it doesn't really matter whether sun or partial shade. Apparently it does spread underground though.
Some of mione is in the shade. I think it looks better there
In the sticks near Peterborough
It tolerates some shade, but in heavy shade it fades away. The patch I have in sun most of the day does best.
Mmmmmmm don't think it's going to be suitable for what I have in mind theN shame I really like it maybe one for the sunny spot in the woods!
