New canes have grown, fruited ones now finishing to be chopped to ground - my question is do you tie the new canes just vertically or do they need to be bent and tied horizontally ? Thanks

    There is the Scandinavian system ( which isn't as interesting as it sounds) the single post system and and the single fence system. With the Scandinavian system you have two parallel wires 3 feet apart and 3 feet off the ground. The canes are woven round these to form a shallow V when looked at from the end of the row. With the single fence system there is one row of wires at 2 foot, 3 foot and 6 foot off the grond. the canes are tied to this in a fan shape. With the single post system there is only a post 6 foothigh and the canes are bunched round this. The last two systems require the tips of the canes to be removed in Feb or Mar.
