Engineering bricks or solid bricks for patio project

Can I use engineering bricks similar to kettly,to lay a patio?we are considering smooth blue engineering facing bricks, so laid on their long side, but now worried they are not suitable, they would be professionally laid and mortared, but can we use this as a solution, please help??
