Cell division

I hate washing up module trays so I thought I'd have a go at creating one that will be easy to clean, providing it doesn't fall apart (the seed tray is ancient and on the verge of turning to dust). I've made a divider using the flat parts of a fabric softener bottle. It should be possible to scale this up to larger trays using any fairly rigid flat plastic that would normally go in the recycling bin. Fingers crossed that the plants don't all curl up and die in their new home.

  • Depending on how long the seedlings will be in the tray before potting on/planting out, you could also use stiff cardboard to section off the trayimage

Indeeed. Too long and it might go mouldy but it would be perfectly good for a short stay.

It worked. The plant has lovely roots and they haven't encroached on the adjacent cells.
