Is it too late to prune a lavatera?

Somehow this plant escaped my notice. It hasn't been pruned and I've read that it should have been pruned to 1ft from the ground early to mid spring.

By the way - I have read that it is a short lived plant but how deep do the roots go? It's planted along a boundary fence and I don't want the neighbours complaining.

That'll be my job tomorrow then.

Fantastic six hours gardening today in blue sky and sunshine, as I plant/tidy/weed I have a mental picture of the garden in summer. Call me optimistic - I did find the first of the green fly, though. I had noticed the small birds in the bushes

Here's hoping for the same weather tomorrow

Definitely addicted. As a 'beginner' I really appreciate all the help I get on this forum.

    Thank you

  • Hi, is it still ok to prune my lavatera? i hope no more snow! It looks quite woody at the bottom so should I cut it taller?

    Thank you
